Tree of Lights Background

Hi everyone! It’s Jeannie (InsideoutJeans) on the blog today with Trinity Stamps sharing a card using the Tree of Lights Layering Stencil. This was SUPER popular in the holiday release at the end of the year but I’m using it today in a different way to create a rainbow background.

I noticed that the Tree of Lights creates triangles and you can ink them up to fill up a background.

I started in the middle and then added the stencil on each side until I filled up the background. It makes it look so fun! You could always mix up the colors as well by blending them on each stencil, but here I decided to stick with solid colors. Once I was done with the card panel, I trimmed it down to 4″ x 5.25″ so I could mat it on black cardstock.

For my sentiment, I pulled out a favorite of mine: Scripty Thanks. This die comes with the scripty text along with the shadow. I cut the shadow out of black cardstock and the text in holographic cardstock.

I added them to the card in the center and then this card was done. It was such an easy card to create using a stencil that was meant for the holidays. Don’t you love it when you can use things outside of the box? I do!

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you get inspired to create. Come back again soon for more inspiration and ideas! Happy Crafting!

  1. Fun card! I had the same idea to use this stencil for other card backgrounds… not just as a tree! I love polka dots!
