July Crafty Troop Challenge #5

Hello Crafty Friends! Davina here with Trinity Stamps To announce the July Crafty Troop Challenge #5. Last month our Birthday challenge included many super cute Birthday cards and using a random number generator I selected the June winner. Congratulations to Liz Ford! Your slimline unbelievable birthday card was selected and I hope you take some time this month to play along as well. Please contact us at Katie@trinitystamps.comto claim your prize.

The July Crafty Troop Challenge theme is a sketch challenge. And I’ve made two different versions of the same sketch. One for standard cards, and one for slimline cards. So whatever card size you prefer, and whatever your style is, CAS, Crazy like me haha, or somewhere in between… grab your Trinity Stamps, use this card sketch, and get inking!

The rainbow card I’m sharing today uses the slimline sketch, and some of the new June Release items. I couldn’t resist using the Lift the a Flap Slimline dies to create a large solid interactive panel. The opening is so large it fills the slimline card and accommodates flat paper money and gift certificates!

I cut some heavy 110lb cardstock for my green Flap layer. And created the rainbow stripe by die cutting colored cardstock with the widest stitched banner from the Slimline Scalloped card panels &Banners. I cut the strips in half, and glued them diagonally on a strip of scrap paper.  Next, I  trimmed the edges  straight at 1.25 inches wide. I glued it across the green panel after carefully slicing off 1/4 inch from each end, to fit on the non moving part of the flap.

I die cut a patterned paper heart using the  Nested Hearts Dies, to layer over the strip, making sure it fit within the flap boundaries. Next, I stamped the cute gift giving gnome from the Just for you stamp set, and copic colored in the same Bright rainbow hues. I added small highlights after die cutting the images and mounted it over a heat embossed banner onto the front.

Finally, I used trimmed foam tape to mount the entire flap onto a patterned paper panel and cardbase.  That way there would be plenty of space to fill in the flap with goodies. I think it would be hilarious to fill with confetti and gift cards too!

This project came together pretty quickly and without a lot of fuss.  I forgot how much pressure is taken away when working with a card sketch. I hope you take the time to create a sketch inspired card and link it into the InLinkz button at the end of this post. Don’t be discouraged if you device wants you to log into google first . Your project, card, or journal page should feature Trinity Stamps Products as the main focus, and will run through the end of the month until July 31st at 11:59 pm.

For each monthly challenge I will use a random number generator to select an eligible entry to receive a $15 gift certificate to the Trinity Stamps Shop. Let’s share the news and have fun! Please make sure you are linking your own original and new projects to the challenge. And don’t forget when you play along to grab Crafty Troop Challenge Badge to share on your own blog and social media accounts, and to use the #craftytroopchallenge
