Joyeux Noel: One Stamp, Three Ways with Designer Emily

Hello Friends and Happy Monday! It’s Emily M. from @popsofpaper. So glad you are joining me for this week’s One Stamp, Three Ways Post. The featured stamp this week is the beautifully illustrated Joyeux Noel.

I thought it would look so sweet to have two deer looking up and catching glistening snowflakes and shining stars so I decided to tackle mirror image stamping. I’m not at all a mirror image stamping master. This type of technique is when I tell myself: Don’t Let Perfect get in the way of “hey that doesn’t look too bad” 🙂 If you’ve never done mirror image stamping before, I have a quick tutorial below.

Quick Mirror Image Stamping Instructions:

*There are several different ways to achieve mirror image stamping, this is just one option that delivers me the best results.*

Find a blank stamp that fits your image or use a set like Paper Smooches Mirror Blocks (which has brought me good luck with this technique).
Ink up your deer image and carefully stamp it to your blank stamp. Remember it’s slippery on the blank stamp so take extra care not to smear the image. I recommend trying this a few times with your image to get a feel for how it stamps to the blank stamp.
Carefully, remove the inked stamp from your blank stamp (any wiggles and jiggles will smear the impression). Once removed, you will see your impression on the blank stamp.
Stamp the new mirror image to your paper or you can take you paper to the mirror image and apply pressure to make the impression.
After making the impression, the ink transfers to your paper and you have yourself a mirror image. Magic!!

Snowflake Kisses

I wanted the focal image to be a beautiful large snowflake from the Blizzard Shaker Embellishment Mix. I think it is so cute seeing those reindeer catching snowflakes with their noses. Here’s how the card came together:

Mark the placement of the snowflake embellishment in the center of the card panel. Stamp the reindeer images (one in mirror image) so they face the large snowflake marking.
Copic color the reindeer and make sure they have cute striped scarves.
Heat emboss several of the snowflakes. First in silver and then teal embossing powders.
For extra pop, add sequins from the Blizzard Shaker Mix and some Shimmering Snowfall Shaker Mix with liquid adhesive.
Attach card panel to silver shimmer card stock and attach the large snowflake embellishment to the card.

A Star Above that Shines so Bright

While creating the first card and inspired the “A Star Above that Shines so Bright” sentiment, I thought it would be fun to use the same concept but with stars. I used the same process as above but instead of heat embossing snowflakes, I stamped several stars that I colored yellow with Copics. To create the illusion of a sky, I added blue dots between the stars and added some star sequins and sparkles from the Lumos Glitter Confetti mix.

Twinkle, Twinkle Christmas Stars

There are so many fun star sizes in this set that I had to create a festive star background card. First I stamped the sentiment on the card and then I stamped the largest star several times, followed by the medium sized stars and then the smaller stars to fill in the little spaces. I colored the stars with Copic colors in dark greens and reds. For extra pop, I added Nuvo Crystal drops in Morrocan Red and Olive Branch. I also added a few silver star sequins and sparkles from the Lumos Glitter Confetti Mix.
