Hello Sweet Friend birthday card with Erica

Hello, hello!

It’s Erica back on the Trinity Stamps blog today. How are we all doing?  All good, I hope. I’ve got a fun, personalised birthday card to show you and I have used the Hello Sweet Friend set for it.

A friend of mine’s birthday is next week and I thought it would be nice to make a card just for her. Instead of putting her whole name on the card, I’ve opted for the N, for Nancy, only.

This card is inspired by the Altenew design team and the Mega Alphabet diecuts, which I have and love. To start out, I cut out the N out of navy blue card stock and I splattered this with gold water colour.

The cutout leftover I used as a stencil to ink blend a shadow for my N. The ink blending is done directly on the card base, and I’ve used a mixture of Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Abandoned Coral. Glowing, autumnal colours gives a nice contrast to the navy blue.

This card is not my usual size card. It’s not only square but a fraction bigger than a 5.25”x5.25”. I wanted to use the Trinity Stamps Hello Sweet Friend set and unless the card was bigger the letter wouldn’t show. That is as good as any excuse to break out of your box, isn’t it?

On water colour card stock I stamped the watering can in black ink and added clear embossing powder on top. I also stamped up a few extra branches of greenery, a flower and a small part of the flower arrangement. All these are done the same way, black ink first and clear embossing powder on top.

All images are coloured using Zig Clean Color markers for a rich, vibrant look. I’ve not added any water to these at all, instead I’ve blended the colours with lighter markers.

Once it was all dry, I used the Hello Sweet Friend coordinating diecuts to cut out each image.

The watering can flower arrangement is adhered to the card with foam tape to raise it up. All the other images are adhered with glue. I did it this way to create some dimensions as otherwise the card would be pretty flat.

As a last little touch, and to mark the occasion, I stamped ‘Happy birthday’ on a small banner. The sentiments are from the Caffeinated Sentiments set. This banner is added with foam tape and I made a bow with some gold glitter thread for it too.

With that, the card is done and so am I, for today! I hope you like the card and got some inspiration from this post.

Thanks for stopping by the Trinity Stamps blog today, see you all soon!

Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica
