Perhaps it is a little early for an Easter ornament, but I couldn’t help myself >< . The Rhino Bird-day stamp set provided the cute images to create a shaker egg ornament.
You can use any egg shaped die or even just cut out a free hand egg shape out of cardstock. I used a lovely die set from Lawn Fawn to cut out an egg frame and shape. Using Trinity’s blendability brushes, I used distress oxide spun sugar on the frame, and distress oxides dried marigold, spun sugar & squeezed lemonade on the egg panel as shown in the photo above.
Before I moved on to stamping all the images, I die cut some clouds from the leftover paper I had used to blend the distress inks and cut out the background piece. I’m showing the photo above just to remind you to look at your scrap pieces before you throw them away! I saved myself some time by die cutting the clouds from areas that had partial blending so that the top of the clouds were white and the bottom had a light blended mango tone.
To create the shaker components of the ornament, cut a frame out of foam (I layered 2 frames of double sided foam) and an egg panel out of acetate (the front of the ornament). Prior to assembling the ornament, I stamped images from the Trinity Stamps sets Rhino Bird-day and Winter Botanical with a light gray copic friendly ink, die cut them and then colored in the images with various copics. I also die cut some grass from the Trinity Stamps Castle Builder die set.
To assemble: Lay the back egg panel down and adhere the 2 frame cut foam pieces in place. Glue the distress oxide colored panel, grass and all die cut images in place. Add shaker pieces. Then adhere the egg shaped acetate piece on top before adhering the final frame piece on top of the acetate. I used simple gold embroidery thread that I happened to have to complete the piece.
