Winter Birdies in a tree

Hello everyone! Welcome!  This is Shanna here today from Caffeinated Craftiness with a fun set of cards featuring the adorable new set from Trinity Stamp Company, Season’s Tweetings!

I went live on Facebook earlier this week to make one of these, and it was so fun! Be sure to join the Trinity Inspiration Facebook group if you want to catch more live crafty fun! The link is at the bottom of this post.  Ok, back to these adorable cards.  I started both cards off by doing a light watercolor wash for my backgrounds using distress oxides in stormy sky, worn lipstick, and shaded lilac.  I wanted a really soft background, and thought the color wash was a nice change up from ink blending. After making sure the background was dry, I stamped my birds in the lower right hand area of my card panel.  For one card, I chose to use Inkon3 fade out ink for no line coloring, the second card I used Versafine Clair ink in Nocturne.  I watercolored the images using my zigs for the traditional coloring, and distress inks for my no line coloring.  I love how different they both turned out.  For both cards I used gathered twigs oxide ink to color the branch the birds were on to blend in with my stenciling.

Next I added some branches using gathered twigs oxide ink and my blending buddy on the Autumn Tree stencil.  This is hands down a favorite stencil of mine for backgrounds!  I masked the birds when I did the branches in the lower right.

For a festive touch on both trees, I used the ornaments from the Winter Friends stamp set to decorate my branches in the upper left corner of the card panel.  I chose to color them in with red sticklers and some rose Nuvo glitter drops.

Final touches were a flurry of Nuvo drops or a splattering of watered down white acrylic paint.  The sentiments were both stamped directly onto the cards, keeping both cards single layer! Totally not my norm, but so fun to make!
