Outline & No Line Coloring
Hi crafty friends! It’s Jeannie (InsideoutJeans) on the blog today with Trinity Stamps sharing two cards featuring the Blessing Bear stamp. This adorable image is perfect for coloring any way you want and I wanted to use it to color it both with and without a black outline.
While coloring these images, I actually didn’t have a plan for the backgrounds… I just wanted to color! However, once I finished, I thought it would be so fun to pull out the new Slimline Series: Black & White Basics paper pack (yes, it’s designed specifically for slimline cards!). I love black and white paper packs because I find them more versatile but the most exciting part is that you can foil them! Oh, and they are double sided! I pulled a piece with a plaid pattern, one side has smaller lines and one has large lines to create the plaid pattern.
For the first card, I used the pattern with the smaller lines and foiled it using gold foil and used the stitched rectangle from the Slimline: Frame and Fold die set to die cut. The bear fits PERFECTLY on this rectangle. I also pulled out the sentiment from the Blessing Bear set, stamped and heat embossed it.
Originally, I cut the piece of paper in half so I would have two 4.25 x 3.5 pieces, one for each card. However, I thought the bear image with no line coloring needed a softer look so instead I decided to use a piece of kraft cardstock. Using watermark ink, I stamped the “hugs” sentiment from the Blessing Bear along the top and bottom of the card panel. I wanted the bear on the left hand side and to fill up the space next to him, I pulled out the Scripty Thanks die. I keep these dies together so it’s easier to put them back together. I used white cardstock for the outline and actually colored in the sentiment using the same colors I used with the bear. To add some extra flair to the card, I used the Slimline: Stitched Strips and cut out strips using gold cardstock. I used two of the smallest strips to frame the sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you got some inspiration to create! Happy Crafting!
I really like how you colored in the thanks sentiment to match the bear! I had no idea that the papers could be foiled! How cool is that!!! Fun cards!
I can learn so dang much and get tips from just reading the blog! Being able to foil the black & white papers is awesome!
These are so sweet, I like the backgrounds, too!
