More Coffee Character cards with Erica
Hi guys!
It’s Erica back on the Trinity Stamps Blog today, with… *drum roll*… another coffee themed card! It should come as no surprise as I’m a self-confessed coffee lover.
This one is stamped exactly like one of my other cards made with the Coffee Character and Caffeinated Sentiments stamp sets, you can see that one, my first blog post for Trinity Stamps HERE.
I stamped up two panels while I had the stamps in my MISTI, which makes sense when you think you are onto a good thing, right? This one is stamped with white ink on Kraft paper so I could use my coloured pencils to create a different look.
Before adding any colours, I covered each image with white pencil to make the added colour pop more. I’m afraid I have no progress photos of the colouring here. Once I get into the swing of it, I tend to get carried away. Next time I do colouring with the pencils, I will try and remember to take photos and perhaps even film it.
The only downside with coloured pencils is that they do take quite some time but the results are (usually) worth it and give such a lovely textured look compared to say, Copics.
To make this card different in more ways than just the way it is coloured, I decided to use a sentiment from a MFT Stamps set both on the front and the inside, where I also added a gift card pocket.
The pocket is so easy to make. Cut a 5.5″x4.25″ panel at an angle and attach it with double sided tape to the inside of the card. You will end up with a perfect sized gift card slot.
I decorated it by stamping a cup and a couple of hearts from the Coffee Character set, and coloured these in.
The hearts are done with Copics and the cup with coloured pencils. To finish off the little pocket, I also stamped ‘This one’s on me’ in black ink.
For the front, I stamped ‘Let’s catch up over coffee’ in black ink on a slip of white card stock. After trimming it down I added it to the card front using foam tape.
I almost resisted the temptation to add sequins but I am but a weak woman when it comes to sequins so I added some. Ok, fine, more than some. Half a dozen to be exact, actually. What can I say? There is only so long I can go without some bling on a card. I do like how they draw the eye in and placed them by my favourite elements on the card.
Well, with that I am off for today but guess what?? I will be back tomorrow with a another post! Until then, lots of love and happy crafting from Erica
