Mix It Up Monday: Sweet Halloween Candy

Hi Friends and Welcome of Mix it Up Monday! I know it’s only August, but I am so looking forward to the fall holidays and slightly cooler weather so when I saw there were pieces of Candy Corn in the Candy Jar, I knew I needed to create a Halloween Themed Candy Jar.

To create my Halloween themed card and shaker tag, I used the Candy Jar Stamp Set, Coloring Candy Stencil, Narrow Card and Bookmark Die Set, Magical Sentiment Coordinating Die SetRainbow Sherbert Stars Sprinkles and Expecto Patronum Glitter Confetti Mix.

To create the Halloween Candy Jar, I used the following Gray Copic Markers:

To color all the Halloween Candies, I used the following Copic Marker colors:

I Love Candy Corn!

Yes, I’m on team Candy Corn during the fall holiday season and cannot wait for the first few bags to hit the store shelves. To create my candy-corn inspired card, I stamped the Candy Jar along with a view pieces of candy corn with Memento Tuxedo Ink and colored with copic markers. I also stamped and fussy cut a few additional pieces of candy corn and popped them up with foam adhesive for extra dimension.

To help with shading on the candy jar glass, I used the Coloring Candy Stencil to add shading marks with my N0 and N1 Copics.

To create the tag around the jar, I die cut the banner from the Narrow Card and Bookmark die, folded in half and added a small hole with a hole punch and added some orange bakers twine with a know that I could attach with a glue dot. I also adhered the tag with a glue dot and then wrote “Boo!” on the front and “a treat for you” with a white gel pen. To finish the card, I added purple, orange and yellow star sprinkles to the jar, added my favorite polka dot washi tape and offset the card panel to the right to expose just the right amount of black card stock against the polka dot washi tape.

Magic Candy Jar-Shaker Tag

I thought it would be fun to create a shaker die from the Candy Jar image and also realized that it was a perfect fit on the Bookmark Tag Die! Awesome!!

Crafty friends I hope you can relate…I realized very late that the Coordinating die for the Candy Jar actually has a die element that will create the shaker window; needless to say I fussy cut the window (along with the jars and candy pieces) but I would definitely recommend the die set to ease the pain and gain more precision. Newbie Shaker Maker Lesson Learned. 🙂

I was going to fill the jar with candy shaker pieces and the little colored candy die cuts but then I thought it would be fun to fill the jar with “magic” and surround the candy jar with the candies instead. So let’s imagine when you open the candy jar, your favorite sweets just magically appear.

Shaker Tip: The space between candy jar and the shaker window is super skinny and these Foam Sticky Strips worked amazing and they are super bendable so you can easily make the round corners. A definite favorite in my craft room these days!!

So there we are friends, I hope you enjoyed my Halloween Candy Inspired Card and Shaker tag and it inspires you to use your stamps, dies and stencils in fun new ways. Have a wonderful week ahead and I’ll see you next Monday. Until then, you can find me on Instagram and my Pops of Paper Blog
