Gnomey Kisses and Hugs
Hi there, Christine here with a shaped shaker card using several new and a few not so new products. The new products include the My One and Gnomely stamp & die set, the Simply Sentimental- Hugs stamp & die set and the Simply Sentimental -Kisses stamp & die set. I paired these with the Paper Hugs Heart die set and the Swirly Heart die set.
The Paper Hugs Heart die set has everything you need to make a heart card base, a shaker window out of acetate and a foam border to keep all the shaker bits contained! For the heart card base, I took a piece of 8.5 x 11inch piece of Neenah Solar white cardstock, folded it in half, and did a partial die cut with the heart die shown above. There is no one way to do this, you can die cut all of the heart except for the upper most two apices of the heart (to make a top folding card) or you can do as I did and cut all the the heart except for a small piece on the left most side (to make a side opening card).
Before you put the heart die that you used to make the card base away, quickly die cut a piece of acetate with it! The scalloped edge heart die is the perfect way to create an enclosure to contain all the shaker bits. Make sure to die cut a foam layer (or multiple cardstock layers glued together) and one top layer of a colored decorative cardstock. Glue everything together in this order: glue the acetate heart to the top colored cardstock and on the other side of the acetate connected with glue to the foam (or multi-card stock layer). Now you have an enclosure that will contain all the bits that will move and “shake”. Put a bunch of embellishments on top of the card base and then glue the enclosure to the card base- voila- shaker card!
To finish the card up, I die cut several heart out of vellum and metallic cardstock with the Swirly Heart die set, glued a copic-colored gnome on top that had been made with the My One and Gnomely stamp & die set. The sentiments were die cut with the Simply Sentimental- Hugs stamp & die set and the Simply Sentimental -Kisses stamp & die set; I used white and black to make the sentiment really stand out.
