California Poppy

Hello friends!  Happy weekend to you!

My daughter had her last day of school yesterday.  She is “graduating” from elementary school.  Time really flies! Her teacher this year was so great.  I wanted to make her a special card and here it is:

This card was pretty fun and relatively easy to make.  The size was 4.25 X 4.25.  Here is how I made it:

I started by stamping the image from Bouquet of Hope set on watercolor paper with Archival Ink.  I used my Misti to do this.  Once I had it stamped out, I used my zigs and a water pen to add color.  I made the flowers orange with brown centers to look like California Poppies.  Aqua seemed like the best complimentary color so I used that for the dress.  I stamped a few extra flowers and colored them too.  Once they were done and dried I cut it out with the corresponding die set.

Next I used a stencil to create a sunburst.  I taped the stencil down and used Mustard Seed Distress Ink and my Trinity Blending Brushes to create the first layer.  Then, I removed the stencil and added Squeezed Lemonade layer over the top.  Then I used a large circle die to cut it out.  After that, I added the die cut image over the top.

After this, I cut the base in aqua paper in 4.25 X 4.25. I added some rough twine around the base and then mounted the circle on top.  Inside, I stamped a sentiment from the Thank You Sentimini set. I added a few of the flowers on the inside as well.

And here is the final finished product again.

This was fun to make. It is so bright and happy! It reminds me of a young girl, maybe a 5th grader (wink), presenting someone special with some flowers. I do hope my daughter’s teacher liked this card and the sweet message my daughter put inside.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Thank you for visiting and please visit me on my blog anytime!
