Hello, Coloring Creatives!

Have you heard of “The Daily Marker’s 30 Day Coloring Challenge” that is hosted by Kathy Racoosin? Right now it’s in the middle of the challenge and it’s a great time to take a leap, jump in and get your feet wet!  Don’t feel like you are jumping into the middle of the challenge I hope you will think of it as a new beginning. There is no real strict rules, its all about challenging each other (and ourselves) to be creative every day, even if it is only 5 minutes. Feel free to  jump in or out as time permits.

Any coloring medium is welcomed. To share your coloring with the challenge community. Upload your projects to Instagram, www.TheDailyMarker.com, or there is even a closed Facebook group if you don’t use Instagram. Please remember to use the hashtag #thedailymarker30day  and tag @kathyrac . For kids & young adults #thedailymarker30daykids. My daughter and I enjoy coloring together. Participating in this challenge really got her motivated and we spend a lot more time together coloring and talking now.

Now on to our projects for today!

First is a project by an incredibly talented friend of Trinity Stamps, Megan! Megan got extra creative with our Lady Liberty stamp set. aside from the AMAZING coloring she has done, she even made the torch light up! Here is a little about Megan’s project in her own words:

Hi! When I received the Lady Liberty stamp set from Trinity Stamps, I immediately knew that I wanted to make an extra special card with her. She is so pretty and majestic in her own way! I decided to color her with Copic markers (BG 10, 11, 13, 15, 18, 23, 32, and RV10 for her cheeks) and used a white gel pen to add texture and highlights. Why so many different colors? Well, I wanted a slight difference in color between her skin, robe, and accessories without distracting from her overall appearance. I stamped the torch section of image onto a piece of vellum using Versamark ink and black embossing powder to create a semi-transparent area for the Chibitronics light to shine through. I created a circuit on the back card panel and tested it to ensure the circuit worked properly before later attaching the front panel to the card base. So the recipient would know that it is an interactive card, I used the Push Here stamp set from Lawn Fawn and a star die cut to place at the bottom right hand corner of the front panel.

To create a background for my card, I die cut a panel from Bristol Smooth Cardstock using a 4 bar sized die from Lawn Fawn and ink blended Distress Oxide Inks (Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch, Faded Jeans, and Black Soot) across the background. I also used additional dies from Lawn Fawn to die cut waves, grass, and a pedestal for Lady Liberty to stand on. Again, I used Distress Oxide Inks to add depth and color to these elements. So the recipient would know that this is an interactive card, I used the Lawn Fawn Push Here Stamp Set and a star die cut to place in the lower right corner of the front panel simply stating “Push Here”. Lastly, I heat embossed one of the sentiments from the Lady Liberty stamp set at the bottom of the card.

I hope that you enjoy my design and thank you for stopping in. The 30 Day Coloring Challenge is such an amazing and inspiring platform to encourage taking just a few minutes to do something creative for yourself each day!

Megan

Next up is a card using our Caffeinated sentiments and Coffee with Character stamp sets!

I decided to create a different sized card this time around. This envelope is actually perfect if you fold a 6×6 piece of paper in half! I did a little distress ink blending on the envelope and card panel as well as the printed paper so it would all match. I sent all the pieces aside to dry and then went to work on my little coffee character. I stamped him out in a copic safe black ink and then used some warm grey copic markers (W00, W0, and W01).  I used some earth tone copic markers to color the sleeve to the coffee cup as well as some darker browns to color some of my card stock to die cut the little beans from. I cut all the colored pieces out with the Coffee with Character die set. Then I took the colored cardstock and the bonus dies in the die set  (three tiny pieces that make up a layered coffee bean) and cut those out several times.

I assembled the little pieces with a little foam tape on top of the bean base and then coated the whole bean with glossy accents. I made sure to color the two top bean pieces a lighter shade of brown than the bottom piece. I think it helped these little beans look more realistic!

Because I wanted him to look upwards, our google eyes were not going to work out this time. I took some white enamel dots and some black enamel accents and dotted the black on top of the white enamel dots. This made perfect little eyes!

I added some shading and embossed a sentiment from our Caffeinated sentiment set with white embossing powder.

To finish it all off I stamped some of the coffee beans (from the coffee with character set) and a sentiment (from caffeinated sentiments). Then I added a Starbucks gift card! I think this is sure to make any coffee lover smile! I love having coffee cards on hand for a quick gift like this, I am thinking about doing something similar with our new Decorate-a-cake stamp set too!

She would love it!
