Wreath Coffee Cozy

Hi there, Christine here with a Christmas coffee cozy using our delightful Coffee Cozy Hand-Stitching die set on wool felt that I purchased through the Benzie Design store.  I also die cut felt pieces with the Marshmallow Alpha dies to spell out the word “JOY” with the wreath and added a bow using the Bunch of Bows die set.

First I die cut all the coffee cozy pieces out of the felt I had purchased: the sleeve, 2 scalloped edges, a circle with stitching details with the Coffee Cozy Hand-Stitching die set.  I cut a “J” and a “Y” using the Marshmallow Alpha dies and used a piece supplied in the Coffee Cozy Hand-Stitching die set to mark holes with a pencil so that stitching the letters would be uniform with the rest of the coffee cozy.

To make it a little easier to sew the pieces together, I recommend that you use a glue (I used Gina K Connect glue) to glue the scalloped edges and the sleeve together prior to stitching (I did the same thing with the wreath & letters as well).  I used the chain stitch to connect the scalloped border to the sleeve and for the stitching detail on the letters.  This video shows how to do that stitch:

To create the wreath, I cut the circle with stitching detail found in the Coffee Cozy die set and then used a smaller circle to die cut the center out.  I used a leaf stitch to create more interest and make it look more wreath-like.  Finally I added some red sequins and a red felt bow.

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope that this project is helpful!
