Vibrant Blessings With Mirror Image Stamping

Hello Trinity Stamps friends! It’s Bobbi Lemanski (@BobbiHartDesign) here with a handmade greeting card offering an abundance of vibrant colors surrounding a fall blessing from two sweet birds! To create these two lovely birds that face each other, I used some smoke and mirrors… well more mirror than smoke, really! I’m using a technique called mirror image stamping. You’ll see what I mean in just a bit.

I’m using the following Trinity Stamps products for this card:

Wildflower Clippings die set

Pumpkinhead Stencil

Best Place to Be stamp set and coordinating die set  (for the sweet bird)

Blessing Bear stamp set (for the phrase)

This card measures 5″ X 7″ (A7 size) offering a nice area to fill with wildflower clippings, a lovely pumpkin and two sweet birds. To make this card, I started by stenciling the pumpkin using the Pumpkinhead Stencil. I used my Blending Buddy White Bristle Brush80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock and Distress Oxide Inks in Weathered Wood and Tumbled Glass. I also enhanced the pumpkin later with Copics in BG72, BG11, B99, W3, W1, and YG63 to further define the grooves of the gourd. Once the coloring was complete, I fussy cut it out and attached it to my 5″ X 7″ front panel cut from a navy colored cardstock. I used Scrapbook Adhesives White Foam Squares to attach it so that the pumpkin would stand out. I stamped and heat embossed the “You are a blessing” phrase right below it.

I knew I wanted two birds facing each other to sit on the pumpkin. I love the bird from the Best Place to Be stamp set, but it only faces one way so I made a mirror image of the bird using my MISTI tool. Following the steps above, I transferred the image from the actual stamp to my red rubber transfer stamp (a clear transfer stamp works, too) and then to my white cardstock. When following these steps, it’s important to really ink up your stamp in step one. The MISTI is great for this technique because it allows you to stamp the image several times to make sure you have enough ink on the stamp to transfer to the transfer stamp and then to the paper.

Once the birds were stamped, I colored them, die cut the one from the set and fussy cut the mirror image bird. The birds were placed on the pumpkin, facing each other. I die cut a bunch of clippings from the Wildflower Clippings die set in various colors and attached them around the pumpkin focal point. I added some white accent dots using my Sakura Classic White Gelly Roll white pen to fill in spaces as needed to match the white, embossed phrase. The front panel was attached to a white card base to complete it.
