Sunflower birthday wishes

Hello Everyone, Mirella here today. I hope you’re all doing well, and are staying safe and healthy!

I have recently noticed that my birthday cards pile is getting worryingly small, hence I am currently on a birthday card mission – you can never really have too many birthday cards, right?

The gorgeous Sunflower Bouquet Builder stamp set has been on my wish list for a long time, and I finally have it in my collection, hence I was itching to ink it up! Sunflowers are amongst my favourite flowers, and they seem cheerful and full of optimism, so they seemed like the perfect choice for this week.

I coloured the sunflowers in the traditional way – with yellows and browns, and I added some accents with a golden gel pen, for some extra bling. I then cut them out with the coordinating dies and played a bit with an arrangement that seemed right. Next, I moved onto the background.

You know me, I love ink blended backgrounds, and this time I opted for one, too! Blending buddies are tremendous help with quick and even backgrounds – my one took literally a few minutes at most! I used one colour for the whole panel, and then inked a darker blue heart on top, with the use of the Layered Heart Stencil. And, of course, some golden splatters to finish it off!

Time to assemble the card! I adhered the ink blended background to my card base, and then added a golden frame on top – I think it goes nicely with the whole design. Next, the floral arrangement – over the heart, but arranged in such way that you can still make out the heart shape from underneath it. Finally, some darling Pearls for even more bling and interest, and – of course – the sentiment.

The card is ready! What do you think?

I’m really loving this colour combo, and I think I might make some similar designs in the coming weeks. I’m also hoping to try colouring these sunflowers in different colours, to turn them into gerberas – I think that would work really well.

Big hugs to all of you, see you again in two weeks,

Mirella

P.S. As usual, the full list of all the supplies used can be found on my blog!
