Stretch your Halloween stamps!

Hi Everyone, Mirella here. Today, I am showing you a little sneak peek of the upcoming super fun release! Lots of the products in this release will be Halloween related, but if – like me – you’re not mad into Halloween cards, or you simply don’t feel that you need to make many, fret not – I have some suggestions for you! You might be grateful, your wallet might not 😉

You might find it shocking, but I have not started celebrating Halloween until a few years ago. It simply wasn’t part of my country’s traditions. I do enjoy it now, especially with my own kids, but I still wouldn’t be absolutely Halloween crazy… Therefore, in the past years, I never really paid a lot of attention to Halloween themed stamp and die sets, simply because I didn’t feel the need to use them and make cards with them.

This is probably why, the moment I saw the new release by Trinity, I straight away started thinking of using the stamps for a purpose different than Halloween. And so today, my dear crafty Friends, we’re going to make love-themed cards with one of the newest stamp sets! You can use them for Valentine’s Day, as a cute little note card for a friend/loved one, or even for your kids! Sounds like fun? Let’s dive in!

Both of my cards are pretty similar in the making. The main difference is that one uses white card stock as a base panel, and the other one – kraft card stock. Hence, the slight difference in colours & their intensity.

I started by ink blending a pink/purple heart, using the Heart Layering Stencil and my Blending Buddies. Whilst these were drying a bit, I stamped and coloured the adorable bats from the new Fang-tastic stamp set , and cut them out, using the coordinating dies. Note that one of my bats is darker than the other – I simply wanted to colour them a bit differently.

I wanted the hearts and the bats to be the focal points of my designs, hence I left the rest of the designs pretty simple – I pretty much added only sentiments, and some bling. For the card with the white background, I used “Batty for you”, and some Black Eyed Beads

For the kraft version, I went with  “I love you this much” (which I find absolutely adorable, when paired with this cute little bat stretching out his wings as much as he can!), and my beloved Boiled Sugar Jelly Drop Hearts. One thing worth mentioning here: I messed up a bit, as I forgot that my glue reacts with the Distress Oxide Inks, and so two of my hearts appear to be pink now, when in reality they’re see through, but thankfully the colours go well enough with the whole design!

It might not show very well in the photos, but I went over the bats’ ears with a shimmer pen, and I covered their adorable heart-shaped noses with Glossy Accents.

I don’t know what it is about these bats, but they just screamed to me to be used on love themed cards!

I decided to trim down the white panel to a square shaped card, and on the kraft coloured one, I added a little bit of additional shimmer, by using a sparkly washi tape at the bottom.

I think I am pretty well prepared for next year, now – one of these will go to my Hubby for Valentine’s Day, most likely, and one I’ll use for one of my girls, maybe as a surprise note in their school bag or something, let’s see.

What do you think? Do they work for love themed occasions?

As usual, all of the supplies used can be found on my blog. Come back tomorrow, for some more inspiration and peeks. We will also be celebrating with an Insta Hop, so stay tuned!

Big Batty Hugs to you all!
