the August Crafty Troop Challenge theme is an encouragement/kindness filled idea for your friend. So break out your Trinity Stamps and make a card for your friend just to let them know how special they are by making a Friendship card, and use the InLinkz button at the end of this post for your chance to win.
The card I’m sharing today makes me smile for two reasons, it’s bright and fun, and it’s masculine, which I usually struggle to do. I’ve actually been in a creative slump following a couple of weeks of an inability for cardmaking. I tried to make 3 different cards before this one took life, and didn’t think I would get this complete in time for my post. I created this Custom sized, lush scene, using images from a variety of sets.
I always try to use my paper scraps before cutting new cardstock. And I save all the pieces, believing that I will use them someday. Maybe for grass/ocean layers, or even just to hold my Bristol smooth cardstock in place while inkblending, but I’m never wasteful of my papers. I had some green and aqua scraps on my desk that were perfect for cutting these layers from. I die cut some Bristol smooth for the background and inkblended some yellow clouds for the sky, then I inked some lucky clover onto the two green grass layers that I cut using the stitched grass from the Scenic Border Slimline Die Set. I cut a little pond using the stitched hillside from The Great Outdoors Slimline Dies from an aqua scrap, and I inked some peacock feathers and blueprint sketch around the edges. (There is a fantastic grass die in the Great Outdoors die set, but it is straight and I wanted and arched hill.)
Next I stamped my images onto bright white Neenah, and copic colored in mostly shades of green. I used the sets Hugs & Squishes, Rare Friend, Let the Good Times Roll, and the sky images from Let’s Ride Together. After die cutting with the coordinating dies I added some white dot highlights. Then I started to create my scene. I stretched the layers out to make a 4×6 card knowing that I had some nice envelopes sized to fit printed photos.
I adhered my taller grass layer directly to the inky sky panel, and my little pond layer directly to the shorter grass. Before using foam tape to mount the shorter grass over the back panel, I heat embossed my sentiment to the pond. This sentiment is from the Summertime Sentiments set.
I always make sure to leave about a half inch of each layer with no glue so I can tuck images behind without a lot of fuss. So I slipped my grass and cat tails behind the layers and adhered my characters all around. The little flies are always my favorite images to add. Once all of my images were in place, I created a green patterned paper layer that I mounted onto a 4×6 cardbase.
I hope you like this Friendly scene and play along with this months challenge. Link it to this post using the InLinkz button below. Don’t be discouraged if your device wants you to log into google first.
