Rhino Bird Day: One Stamp Three Ways with Designer Emily M.

Hello Friends and Happy Monday—One more day until 2019! I’m Emily M. @popsofpaper and I’m so excited you are here for this week’s 1 Stamp 3 Ways post.  This week I had a blast stretching my imagination with the Rhino Bird Day set. The sentiments in this set crack me up and the Rhinos and Birds are just too stinkin cute and so much fun to create with!

The Supplies I Used for All 3 Cards:

Finding Your Inner Unicorn

I just love this sentiment and thought it only fitting to have a Rhino with rainbow nail polish strutting around on an interactive rainbow slide. Here’s how this card came together:

  1. Use an embossing folder to bring some texture to the top of the card.
  2. Using Blendability Brushes blend your way through the rainbow with Distress Oxide inks. I don’t own many Distress Oxide inks but I did make sure I had a rainbow of colors to get started. You can see the colors I used in the image below.
  3. Color, die cut and add some sparkles to your Rhino.
  4. Add in the interactive fun part (see below).
  5. Adhere rainbow patterned paper behind the slider and rhino for added color and fun.
  6. For the sentiment, use some sponge daubers to apply the rainbow gradient ink colors to the stamp. Stamp the inked up sentiment to white card stock. If you are like me, you’ll do this several times and end up using the first impression you created. Add some black card stock behind the rainbow sentiment for extra dimension and adhere to the card.
  7. Add some fun embellishments to the top of the card for extra pop and fun.

The Interactive Fun Part

Die cut the slide to the bottom of the card panel. Add two mini circular foam adhesive dots to the back of the Rhino (removing only one side of the adhesive). Insert the circular adhesive into the slider and turn the card over. Use a small piece of card stock behind the Rhino and attach it to the other side of the foam adhesive dot. The card stock should be smaller than the die cut but large enough to cover the foam adhesive. This helps position the Rhino so it doesn’t spin when it’s walking; although a spinning Rhino with rainbow nail polish strutting her stuff would be fun!

Don’t Worry, Friend. I’ll always have your back!

I love this sentiment and love it even more with these two rhinos look out for each other. I thought this would make for a great Valentine or Anniversary card. To bring this card together:

  1. I die cut the heart on a white card stock panel. This was my guide but also the top piece of the card panel stack. I used this piece as a guide so I knew where to stamp the rhinos.
  2. I stamped the rhinos and colored with my N0-N4 Copics.
  3. Then I masked the rhinos so I could do my ink blending.
  4. Once the ink blending was complete, I removed the mask and adhered the die cut card panel to the blended panel.
  5. To finish the card, I adhered fun embellishments inside the heart and added a the sentiment strip with foam adhesive.

Happy Bird Day

These little birdies are so Tweet! This is a nice CAS birthday card with a few quick and easy steps:

  1. Freehand draw the wire.
  2. Stamp the birdy images on the wire and make sure they each get a balloon (except the Bird Day Girl, she gets the party hat).
  3. Copic color the birds and balloons in a rainbow of fun bright colors. Add some highlights with a white gel pen on the balloons. Draw in balloon strings and attach to the birdy beaks.
  4. Color and fussy cut the party hat. Adhere some fun star embellishments.
  5. Finish the card by adhering the sentiment strip and some hand-drawn dots to the wire.

So there you have it friends, three ways to use the Rhino Bird Day Stamp Set! I hope you enjoyed these fun creations. I can’t wait to see you next Monday when I mix and match different stamps for the Mix it Up Mondays post.
