Oh, Nuts! It’s almost winter

Happy Monday Crafty Friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I’m excited for the nice long Thanksgiving holiday coming up and wanted to sneak in one more autumn themed card with you this week.

I’m nuts about squirrels and the Nutty Squirrel stamp is so cute! They are one of my favorite critters to color so why have one when you can mirror image two squirrels together with a giant pumpkin hug!

I’ve tried so many different techniques for mirror image stamping and what works best for me is using the Waffle Flower Media Mat. Simply stamp your image to the mat and then press your card stock to the image and presto you have a crisp mirror image.

At first I water colored the images but then I decided to go over the watercolor with color pencils for a little extra furry texture. I finished the coloring with white gel pen for extra dimension.

To help make the smaller images become the focal point on the card, I added the images to a half-circle die cut and stamped the cute sentiment. Then I layered the half-circle against a gold heat embossed woodcut panel  that I had in my stash. To finish the card, I added the card panel to a kraft card base.

So there we are friends, an autumn-themed card using the small Nutty Squirrel 3×4 stamp that’s big on cuteness! I can’t wait to see you next week, until then you can find me on Instagram @popsofpaper. Be sure to stop by the Trinity Stamps Blog, IG, FB and YouTube channel for all the amazing design team inspiration all week long.

Big Paper Hugs!

  1. This card is just adorable! I love it so much! And thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH for the mirror stamping tip. I literally just tried this last night and failed miserably because I don’t own a sold stamp. I don’t know how this is possible but evidently it is.
