Mix it Up Monday! Slimline Shaker Skaters
Hello Friends! Happy Monday and Welcome to this month’s Mix it Up Monday! Today, I’m super excited to share with you a slimline shaker card using the Slimline Die Series, a cute skater duo and some fun snow shaker embellishments. The cute little penguin is from Winter Friends and her polar bear best friend is from Have an Ice Day. The sentiment is from the super cute Season Tweetings.
What is super cool about the slimline series? You can make shaker slimline cards! I used all the new Slimline Dies for my card to show how fun they are to mix and match.
- Slimline Series: Scallops and Banners
- Slimline Series: Stitched Card Panels and Windows
- Slimline Series: Scenic Borders
Along with the dies, these Double Sided Foam Sticky Strips are amazing to create a thin foam adhesive border/moat to keep all your shaker elements in place. For the shaker bits, I used:
- Snowflake Kisses Confetti Mix
- 2mm Acrylic White Sprinkles Mix
- Frosted Flakes Mylar Flakes & Glitter Embellishment Mix
To create the card, I die cut the medium rectangle and then used the small rectangle to die cut the center of the medium rectangle leaving a narrow white border. Then I die cut the ice and clouds from white card stock. I used my Trinity Blending Buddy Brushes to blend blue distress oxide ink and then added Nuvo Moonstone Glitter paste to create ice for the polar bear to glide on. I die cut the snow hill in the background from pearlescent vellum. Then I adhered all the border pieces behind the rectangle shaker border. Next, I adhered a piece of acetate to the border design. By adding the borders it also have me more space to add a nice size foam border/shaker moat to the top and bottom of the card. After creating my foam border/shaker moat, I added all my snow shaker bits and pieces.
For the sky, I cut another medium rectangle and used Distress Oxide Inks. Then I adhered the sky rectangle to the shaker piece and then the entire shaker piece to an Aqua scalloped rectangle.
For the Winter Pals, I stamped and water colored the penguin and polar bear from Winter Friends & Have an Ice Day and then die cut with the coordinating dies. Then I adhered the penguin to the polar bear and then the skating duo to the shaker card using foam tape.
To finish the card, I added the white heat embossed Sending Warm Winter Wishes sentiment and then I did a little shaker dance with my finished card.
So there we are friends, a fun Winter Pals slimline shaker card using the Slimline Die Series. I hope you enjoyed my card today and it inspires you to shake things up in the craft room. I look forward to sharing a new project with you next week. Until then, you can find me on Instagram @popsofpaper and over on my blog www.popsofpaper.com.
Big Paper Hugs!
