Guest Designer: Kelly Griglione!
Hello folks! Thanks so much for your sweet comments on my first guest post using the Succulent Banner Stamp! I’d like to share another set of cards using a similar set featuring succulents, the Let Love Grow Stamp Set and Let Love Grow Coordinating Die Set.
I guess you could say I’m a succa for these sets (don’t hate me, I had to go there!!)
This set has a main succulent image, which you can see die cut in the middle here, but also a few additional single succulents, which is what makes this set so versatile. Using these single succulents, you can now fill the space that you have on your card. In this case it’s the entire width of the landscape card. (The next card I’ll share is a vertical card and you’ll see how you can easily modify the image to fit whatever space you’re working with.)
Another great feature about this set, aside from the bonus individual succulents that are included, is that there are a TON of awesomely scripted sentiments! AND COORDINATING DIES! Eeep! A trick I like to do all the time when there is a set of connected dies is to place the coordinating stamps on top of the dies (leave the dies all still connected), put your stamping block down on top of the stamps, and then stamp them all as a group. With one pass of the die set you now have a ton of sentiments available for future cards!
Since I have a treasure trove of sentiments available, I wasn’t afraid to use multiple sentiments on my card here. I separated the sentiments with the beautiful Shiny Baubles that Trinity Stamps carries.
Remember when I said the individual succulents will help you fill the space you have? Here’s the vertically orientated card where I placed the individual succulents above the main succulent image to fill this space.
And how about that sentiment?! Hahaha!! Just perfect to brighten someone’s birthday.
Here’s a quick tip for when you don’t like how your coloring looks … just color a new section and cover it up! I really didn’t like how the purple crystal turned out here, and by this time I had colored pretty much the rest of the image. No one wants to waste all of that effort! So I quickly stamped another image, colored that crystal again in blue, cut it out, and adhered it right on top of that darn purple crystal. Problem solved! And just in case anyone were to look closely and notice an extra layer of paper, I used two of the Shiny Baubles to help disguise it.
You can hardly tell where it’s been modified, right? I probably could have even touched up that tiny bit of purple peeking out with a white gel pen to make it even less noticeable.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these sets of succulents! I just love having them in my house and couldn’t wait to make a few cards with them. A big thank you to Taniesa, Emily and Katie for having me guest design! They are just the sweetest people ever : )
Thanks for stopping by!
