An MCM-inspired Card for 2022!

Hello Trinity friends. It’s Bobbi Lemanski here sharing a “happy new year” card,  just in time for 2022! I’m a big mid-century modern (MCM) design lover and wanted to add a MCM / mod feel to this “hip and happening” card. I knew the Cheers set was going to have to be the star of the show to pull this off. Those curves on the glasses are all “hit” and speak to me!  I’m using the following Trinity Stamps new release sets:

Cheers die set

Holiday Tag Helper stamp set

This card is a slimline card measuring 3-1/2″ wide X 8-1/2″ tall. The card base is made from Neenah 80lb cardstock. The front card panel is made from black cardstock. To make the base, I cut a piece 7″ wide X 8-1/2″ tall and scored down the center.  I cut the card front panel in black at 3-1/2″ wide X 8-1/2″ tall.

Happy New Year Slimline Card

Next, I cut the following images using the Cheers die set:

  • One bottle in white
  • Five martini glasses in white
  • Five champagne glasses in white
  • One cork in white
  • Two martini glasses in black
  • One champagne glass in black

I heat embossed in gold, the “happy new year” design on the white bottle. The bottle and cork were attached to the black card front. I added all of the glasses – martini and champagne – to the card front, around the bottle and cork. Where the glasses layered over the bottle, I added a black die cut piece in the white bottle section using one of the black die cuts I cut in the earlier step. I simply layered the alternate color over the glass section, marked the cutting points, snipped and glued on top. This high-contrast play is key here for this MCM look.

Using a white gel pen and a fine-tip black marker, I hand drew in open circle bubbles inside the glasses, using the alternate color. This little add, creates a bit of whimsy to this modern design. Lastly, I added Gold Satin Baubles to the design on the bottle, calling attention to the embossed phrase. The card front was attached to the card base to finish this MCM-inspired greeting for 2022!
