A 24-Layer Birthday Cake Inside!

Hello Trinity fans! It’s Bobbi Lemanski here with a big surprise inside this slimline card. You’ve heard of 24-carat gold. How about a 24-layer carrot cake or any flavor cake?! This tall card boasts 24 colorful layers of birthday goodness inside! With its big & bold birthday sentiment on the front, the cake must be super duper big to complement it. 🙂 If I were to make one of these cakes, it would definitely be a leaner, for sure! I have trouble with three layers! LOL

I’m using the following new products from the latest release by Trinity Stamps:

Big & Bold Sentiment stamp set.

Cake and Candles 6″ X 9″ stencil

Supporting Script Sentiments

The inside of this top-fold, slimline card is definitely meant to be the focal point of the handmade greeting. I used the Cake and Candles 6″ X 9″ stencil to create the cake and banner on the top. I used my Blending Buddy Brushes and Ranger Distressed Oxide Inks in Kitsch Flamingo, Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, Mustard Seed, Cracked Pistachio, and Tumbled Glass to create the layers.

The cake was stenciled on two panels – one measuring 3-1/2″ wide X 8-1/2″ tall and the other measuring 3-1/2″ wide X 11″ tall and scored at 2-1/2″ from the top. The section above the score line will be used as the hidden “hinge” for the folded card. The bottom half of the cake (i.e., the footed pedestal and cake layers ) was stenciled up to the scored line on the 11″ tall panel. One of the cake layers continues from the top of the bottom panel to bottom of the top panel to make the layers more seamless.

You can see that when the card is folded, there is a green layer that straddles the folded center. After the cake was completely stenciled, I stamped three phrases from the stamp set, Supporting Script Sentiments over the top of three cake layers.

I kept the front panel simple on this card, knowing I wanted the inside to be the focus. Using scraps of coordinating color and the remaining white 3-1/2″ wide X 8-1/2″ tall panel, I added stripes of color and stamped the phrase from the Big & Bold Sentiment stamp set. The sentiment is BIG so I stamped “birthday” on two lines. Some faux white stitches enhance the sections.

To assemble, I used the front striped panel and the top half of the cake panel inside to “sandwich” the hinged section of the back panel to create this top-fold slimline card. I used double-sided adhesive tape to adhere the panels and hinge together to complete the card.
