Today is day 11, and I have an adorable pair of ornaments that I made using stamps and dies from Trinity Stamps, and some basic supplies, which many of us already have at home. The only specialty item needed is a clear acrylic half dome ornament that you could pick up at your local craft store.
The ornament I used snapped in half so you could fill it with anything you chose, then click back together to make a globe. I chose to decorate each half to make two half dome ornaments. I started by looking through all of my circle dies to see which one was the closest size to my half domes. I was happy to find both a scallop die and a circle that were the perfect sizes. I cut two red cardstock circles with the slightly larger scallop die. Then, I cut two circles from patterned paper with the slightly smaller circle die.
Next I cut 4 circles from white cardstock to create my snow layers. Using the Slimline Scenic Border I cut all four circles in half to make multi level snow drifts. I stacked and glued the layers together perfectly onto the patterned paper. I stamped images from 3 sets to fill the inside. I used images from Bunny Burrow, the Winter Burrow Add On, and Shoe Sprites . I used a rich brown ink to stamp my images and colored everything with copic markers in shades of red, green, aqua and brown.
I adhered the background images onto the snowy layers but I wanted my layers to pop out. I folded some acetate strips into half inch cubes, and glued the image to one side, and the used the back side to attach to the background. This will hold the main image up into the dome and allow the glittery snow to move around.
I piled a heaping tablespoon or iridescent glitter flakes onto the center, careful to keep away from the edges, then ran avery thin line of matte adhesive around the edge of my half dome. I carefully placed the dome onto the ornament and tried not to slide it around to prevent glue from squishing out. Next, I created some tiny tags using one of the Trinity Stamps freebie dies. I cut some patterned paper and a vellum one to layer over top. I stamped a sentiment from Greetings of the Season.
I cut some pine foliage off of a floral sprig and hot glued them to the top. Them created a cute bow using the Bunch of Bows dies. I topped eCh with a stamped candy cane and used some red and white bakers twine to tie on my tag and to hang. I hope you enjoy this fun ornament project and make some of your own in the remaining days before Christmas. Thank you for stopping by and don’t forget to visit the other process today by the Trinity Team.
