Creating a Tree with a rainbow die!

A handmade card with a giant tree with the sentiment "Hugs"

I spent a few hours at a campsite over the weekend, and although I didn’t realize it at the time, all that fresh air and nature totally inspired today’s card! It wasn’t until I was halfway through creating that it hit me that I was channeling those peaceful forest vibes into my project.

When I create a card for Trinity Stamps, I usually spend a few hours playing with the products, trying out ideas, tossing some aside, saving others for later. It’s a bit of a creative puzzle, and this Tree Card came together exactly like that.

I’ve had the Pine Forest Background Stamp for a while, but I kept putting it back on the shelf. I finally told myself I’d use it, and just start playing. Which is funny, because it’s such a beautiful stamp! I guess I just don’t usually make nature-themed cards?

So I started simple: I stamped it on white paper and figured I could experiment from there.  I could re-stamp it in another colour, or maybe add some colouring. Next I pulled out the Ray Bow Die Set, which I hadn’t used yet either. I didn’t want to make a traditional rainbow, so I went online and generated a random colour palette. One of the colours was brown, and when I cut that piece, bam! I saw a tree trunk.

Everything changed from that moment. I ditched the rainbow idea and focused on building a tree. I tested markers, pencil crayons, and ink blending, and decided to stick with ink blending because it’s easy, forgiving, and approachable for everyone. The best part? I didn’t even have to cut new foliage! The cloud dies from the Ray Bow set looked perfect as leafy greenery. Sure, it’s not a pine tree… but maybe it’s that one special tree that dares to be different. 😊

In the end, I had a whimsical, nature-inspired Just Because card that anyone can make with a little creative playtime. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it! ❤️
