🌴 Crafting on the Go: How to Make Beautiful Cards with Limited Supplies While on Vacation

Just because you’re sipping piña coladas doesn’t mean you have to take a break from cardmaking!
Going on vacation doesn’t mean leaving your creativity behind. Whether you’re at a cozy cabin, beachside bungalow, or bustling hotel room, you can still get your crafty fix with just a handful of supplies. In today’s video, I’ll show you how I created a handmade card with a minimalist travel kit and only one stamp set!
What’s in My Travel Craft Kit?
When packing light, every inch of suitcase space matters. I kept my cardmaking stash compact and versatile by focusing on these essentials:
-
A medium-sized paper guillotine: large enough to cut a card front, small enough to pack easily
-
A small stash of pre-cut card bases
-
A favorite stamp set (Simply Sentimental: Sweet stamp & Simply Sentimental: Sweet dies), black ink pad, a ROYGBV of coordinating ink pads
-
A handful of alcohol markers: I like to travel with the Spectrum Noir Tri-blends because they are 3-in-1 markers and save tons of space while providing lots of coloring possibilities
-
Pre-die-cut shapes or ephemera: I had a few die cuts from our newest release, but I ended up focusing on just my one stamp set for this project
-
Mini adhesive roller and foam squares
-
And yes…Sparkle Spots. Always Sparkle Spots. 😉
Tips for Vacation Crafting Success:
-
Plan ahead: Choose one color palette and coordinating supplies to simplify decisions.
-
Keep it flat: Avoid bulky embellishments that can be hard to pack or glue down without your usual tools.
-
Think multi-purpose: Bring stamps or dies you can use in multiple ways to get the most bang for your buck.
