Snail Mail birthday wishes

Hi Everyone, Mirella here. We’re going to have some girly and summery ink blending & stencilling fun today – I am recently in a very “girly” mood, and my daughter keeps asking me to make pink and purple cards, plus the sunshine is inspiring me to use happy, bright colours, so let’s see where it took me this time!

For today’s card, I reached for some of my favourite products (there are many of those in the Trinity shop, LOL!): Mr. Snailman, the Layered Heart Stencil and the Sending Hugs dies.

I started with ink blending my background. Blending buddies make this a breeze! I opted for a somewhat unusual colour combo for me, but I am truly happy with how it turned out – I used yellows, pinks and purples.

Next, it was time to colour the image, and again I went for some happy and bright colours. I love how the teal/turquoise shell stands out against the purple heart! I fussy cut the snail, since I don’t have the coordinating die set yet, but did you know that Trinity now carry one for Mr. Snailman? I am so happy! You can get yours here. And guess what? The low price-point won’t leave you broke, either!

When I fussy cut, I usually like to cut right along the stamped line, but in this case I opted for a small white edge around the image (just like a coordinating die would cut), as I think it helps the image pop even more against the inked hearts. I also adhered the snail with some foam tape, so that he’s raised a little.

I die cut the “sending” part of the sentiment from a glitter paper pad I had in my stash. The “many blessings your way” comes from the A Sentiment For (Almost) Everything stamp set (note that I masked out the “sending” part of that sentiment, since I already had the word in the form of a die cut), an the “it’s your birthday” is from the Happy Senti-Mini set.

At this point, all that was left to do was… BLING! I also added some Glossy Accents on the little hearts on the envelopes.

I trimmed my card panel a little bit, so that it ended up being 4,25 inches wide and 5 inches tall – that allowed me to have some colour added to the front, as the yellow card base peeks out at the bottom and at the top. It also frames the whole scene nicely.

What do you think? My little girl squealed when she saw it, so in my eyes –  that card is a winner ;o)

Trinity Stamps are celebrating their second birthday this month (WOOHOO!), hence my card is birthday themed. Our current Crafty Troop Challenge  is also birthday themed, so if I inspired you to make a birthday card with some Trinity products, don’t forget to link it up there – you might win yourself a prize!

Stay tuned for lots of fun, giveaways, and a birthday release that will knock your socks off!

Hugs,

Mirella

P.S. As always, you can find a full list of supplies used on this card on my blog!
